The International Conference on Sustainable Urbanization
Strategies sponsored jointly by UN-HABITAT, the Ministry of
Construction and Weihai Municipal Government shall be held from
Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, 2003 in Weihai. It is not only an international
human settlement conference held under the situation of rapid
development of global urbanization, but also a subsequent activity
of Global Sustainable Summit held in Johannesburg in August
2002. Its theme is to discuss global sustainable urbanization
strategies. The conclusion shall be programmatic document for
UN-HABITAT to instruct global human settlement work. During
the period, a series exhibitions shall be held as well, such
as, China Top-ranking Building Exhibition, China Human Settlements
Exhibition and Urban Construction Bidding, etc. This conference
is another large-scale international activity after Northeast
Asian Economic Summit held in Weihai, all together more than
300 participants coming from 10 international organizations,
30 countries and regions, 50 domestic cities shall gather in
Weihai. The conference has significant importance for enlarging
Weihai's international exchange, creating Weihai's image, pushing
Weihai's urbanization processing and improving human settlements.
