WEIHAI’s GDP reached RMB 196.936 billion in 2009

Weihai’s economy remains in good shape in 2009. The gross domestic product (GDP) of our city reached RMB 196.936 billion, up 12.8% over the previous year, according to Weihai Municipal Statistics Bureau.

The agricultural production was on the rise and animal husbandry remained steady in 2009. The gross grain output hit 1.0442 million tons, rising by 4.3% as against the figure of 2008.

Industrial production warms up continuously. The added value of industrial enterprises above the designed sized (referring to all the state-owned industrial enterprises and the non-state-owned industrial enterprises with annual business turnover over RMB 5 million) reached RMB 115.605 billion, up 13.9% over the corresponding period of last year.

The investment in fixed assets above the designated size totaled 116.554 billion yuan in 2009, growing by 24.2% over the previous year, of which the investment in infrastructure and people’s livelihood reached RMB 21.61 billion.

The total retail sales of consumer goods reached RMB 57.599 billion, an increase of 19.1% compared with the same period of last year.

The value of export and import reached USD 10.613 billion last year. Foreign direct investment totaled USD 550 million; and the effected domestic capital in 2009 was RMB 32.4 billion.

The tourist income rose by 18.7% in 2009 to RMB 18.857 billion. The total fiscal revenue hit RMB 20 billion and the local fiscal revenue was RMB 10 billion last year.

The consumer price index rose by 1.07% compared with the same period of last year. The per capita disposable income of urban residents grew by 8.5% to RMB 20,117. The urban employed workforce increased by 46,500 people last year.
